Two Arrested After Hit-and-Run Cyclist Death in Bournemouth
Police have arrested two suspects following a fatal hit-and-run involving a cyclist on the A338 Spur Road in Bournemouth.

The tragedy unfolded at around 10.39pm on Tuesday, 3 October 2017, near the Ashley Heath roundabout. A 30-year-old man from Poole was cycling southbound when he was struck by a vehicle. Emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene. His family has been informed, and the coroner has been notified.
Suspects Found After High-Speed Hunt
It’s alleged the driver fled without stopping after hitting the cyclist. After an extensive search, police tracked a suspicious white Mercedes van to Nursling, southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton, in the early hours of Wednesday, 4 October. A man and a woman from Southampton were arrested and are now aiding detectives with their inquiries.
Road Closed, Witnesses Urgently Sought
Authorities closed the road between the Ashley Heath roundabout and Blackwater junction overnight, reopening it by 6.30am. Inspector Matt Butler urged anyone travelling from Verwood toward the A31 or southbound on the A338 between 9.30pm and 10.40pm to come forward:
“I’m keen to hear from any motorists who may have seen a cyclist in the area or have dashcam footage. Our specially-trained officers are supporting the family through this incredibly difficult time.”
