Hit-and-Run Horror: Cyclist Left for Dead in Andover
Police are urgently hunting a hit-and-run driver after a 46-year-old cyclist was left fighting for life in Andover early this morning.
Serious Crash Shuts Down A3057
Just before 1am, a vehicle smashed into a cyclist on Charlton Road (A3057) near the Folly Roundabout, Redon Way. The driver sped off, leaving the man lying critically injured in the road.
Hampshire Roads Policing officers quickly closed the road while collision investigators swarmed the scene. A red pedal cycle was found abandoned in the gutter.
Cyclist Rushed to Hospital with Life-Changing Injuries
The victim was rushed to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital with grave, life-changing injuries. Sergeant Adrienne Jerram from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit revealed the cyclist remains in critical condition, with family by his bedside.
“We need to trace the vehicle and driver urgently,” said Sgt Jerram. “If anyone saw the crash or noticed a vehicle with sudden damage last night, please get in touch.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Warn Drivers
- Witnesses who spotted the crash or the hit-and-run vehicle are urged to contact police immediately.
- The offending vehicle likely has clear damage from the collision.
- Traffic diversions are in place – drivers should avoid Folly Roundabout from Charlton Road eastbound and allow extra travel time.
Police continue to comb the area, determined to catch the driver who left a man fighting for his life on the road.
