Brutal park attack: Man punched after row over dog walk

Hampshire Police are hunting witnesses after a 52-year-old man was assaulted in Fratton’s Kingston Recreation Ground on Wednesday, October 4th. The trouble kicked off at 12:30pm when the man got into a heated verbal spat with a woman cycling through the park.

Row over dog walk sparks violence

The cyclist shouted at an elderly man taking his Jack Russell for a stroll. Moments later, she and a male companion turned on the 52-year-old victim, attacking him and leaving him with cuts, grazes to his head, and bruised ribs.

Suspect arrested but still under investigation

A 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. She has since been released without charge, but police say the investigation is ongoing.

Police seek key witness

Officers want to hear from the elderly man walking his dog who spoke to the victim before the assault. Anyone else who saw what happened is urged to come forward.
