Man Charged After Hammer and Baton Attack in Shanklin Burglary
A 27-year-old man was left injured after a terrifying aggravated burglary in Shanklin on the evening of Wednesday, 4 October. Police were called to a flat on Atherley Road shortly after 8:50pm, where two men armed with a hammer and baton attacked the victim before stealing cash.
Victim Treated for Head Injuries
The victim suffered head injuries and was treated at hospital. Thankfully, he has since been discharged.
Suspect Remanded in Custody
Police have charged 25-year-old Jak Dylan Wilkie of Bridge Road, Cowes, with one count of aggravated burglary and two counts of possession of offensive weapons in a public place.
Wilkie appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 7 October and was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on 6 November 2017.
Investigation Continues
Officers are still hunting for additional suspects linked to the violent robbery.
