Multiple Vehicles Crash on M40 Causes Major Motorway Closure
Thames Valley Police is hunting witnesses after a nasty smash on the M40 on Friday morning.
Chaos at Junction 2
The collision happened around 10.40am at junction two on the westbound side, between the slip roads.
Four vehicles were involved: a white HGV towing a blue trailer, a white Volkswagen Caddy van, a white Nissan Cabstar, and a black Audi Q5. The HGV ended up off the road, stuck on the motorway embankment.
Diesel Spill and Long Closure
The crash caused a major diesel spill and damaged the safety barriers. As a result, the M40 had to be shut down at junction two for over six hours while emergency repairs were carried out, causing big disruption for drivers.
Injuries Reported
One of the Audi passengers, a pregnant woman, was taken to hospital for checks. A man travelling in the Audi also sustained an injury but has since been discharged.

PC Richard Martin from Thames Valley Police said: “This was a serious collision which closed the motorway for a significant time. We need anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam footage to get in touch.”
