Top Headmaster Quits After Drink-Driving and Cocaine Scandal
Shock Exit from North End School
The headmaster of Isambard Brunel Junior School, Iain Gilmour, has finally resigned following a staggering drink-driving and cocaine bust. Last night, Gilmour quit his role after admitting at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court he paid £200 for just half a gram of cocaine – a street value of a mere £20.
Drinking and Dangerous Driving on School Night
The scandal deepened when it emerged Gilmour downed three bottles of alcohol before recklessly running two red lights on Manor Road, Buckland, on Thursday 25th January – a night when students should have been in class, not dodging danger on the roads.
Pressure and Struggles Behind the Scenes
Gilmour, who has battled depression, cited mounting pressures from the Thinking Schools Academy Trust. He slammed their refusal to close the school even after a teacher’s death and pointed to crippling budget cuts squeezing teachers and staff.
Deputy to Take the Helm
Deputy headteacher Samantha Cox will step up to lead the school for the rest of the term, as the community reels from the headmaster’s shocking downfall.
