Tragic Deaths at Mutiny Festival: Young Georgia Jones Dies After Taking Pills
The first picture has emerged of Georgia Jones from Purbrook, a former Purbrook Park pupil and support worker for Dolphin Homes, who tragically died at the Mutiny Festival. The 18-year-old collapsed after taking two pills that caused her temperature to spike, triggering a fatal fit.
Deadly Pills Spark Fatal Reaction
The pills led to severe muscle breakdown and a dangerous acid build-up in her blood. Georgia’s heart became irregular and stopped multiple times. Her lungs filled with blood and fluid, forcing medics to place her on life support. Family members later made the heartbreaking decision to switch off the machine.
“She was full of life. I just hope that this stops others from ending up like this and putting another family through the pain we are going through,” Georgia’s family said in a moving tribute.
Multiple Deaths at Portsmouth Festival
Shockingly, two people have now died at this year’s Mutiny Festival in Portsmouth after taking similar pills. Alongside Georgia, an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man from West Leigh also collapsed and died despite frantic efforts by paramedics.
The pair were found unconscious at the festival site in King George V Playing Fields, Cosham, on Saturday evening. On-site medics attempted CPR but were unable to save them.
Police Investigate, No Suspicious Circumstances
A Hampshire Police source confirmed the deaths are not being treated as suspicious. Investigations are ongoing for the coroner. Police are working closely with Mutiny Festival organisers and supporting friends and witnesses.
“Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers,” the force said. Officers urged anyone with information to contact them on 101.
At 7:10pm on 26 May, emergency services attended after the woman fell ill, and she was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital where she died. Just 20 minutes later, the man was found collapsed at the same site and also died at hospital.
The police emphasised that while the deaths are currently treated as separate incidents, all enquiries continue to understand the full circumstances.
