Arson Probe launched as Forest Fires on the Isle of Wight are Linked

Police and the Isle of Wight Fire service have launched a joint investigation after three fires in the open are being treated a suspected arson attacks. Fire crews from across the Island have been called to three separate incidents over the past week involving woodland or fires in the open. Following investigation two of the fire have been started intentionally. In a statement the Isle of Wight fire and rescue service said: Over the past week the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have attended 3 separate incidents in close proximity to Parkhurst Forest, as shown on the photo. In 2 of the 3 incidents we believe the cause to be deliberate, with the origin of the 3rd also raising cause for concern. During the current spell of very hot and dry weather conditions any fire in the open has the potential to, very quickly, get out of control. This may put both lives and property at risk. We ask all members of the public to remain vigilant, and report any suspicious behaviour. [su_youtube url=”https://youtu.be/GoZzflHATVg”]
