Seventeen Year old Girl Murdered following fatal stabbing in Camberwell

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives following the fatal stabbing of a teenage girl at an address in Camberwell. Police were called at 12:16hrs on Thursday, 12 July to a residential address on Brisbane Street to reports of a stabbing. The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended. Despite their best efforts, a 17-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene at 13:02hrs. Her next of kin have been made informed. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits. A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene and is currently in custody at a south London police station. Officers understand that the suspect and victim were known to each other. A weapon has also been recovered. A crime scene remains in place at the address. The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating along with officers from Southwark. Enquiries continue. A/DCI Domenica Catino from the HMCC said: “A young woman has been fatally attacked and a 21-year-old man arrested at the scene. The suspect continues to be questioned by detectives and detailed enquiries including forensic analysis continues.” Anyone with information on this attack is requested to call police on 101 quoting CAD 3429/12JUL or Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.
