An Isle of Wight Fire Crew stationed at Shanklin has been called to a field that was alight just after 10 pm on Friday 27th July 2018. A member of the public contacted the service to say that flames could be seen in a field on in Alverstone Road in Apse Heath.
Firefighters attended and found that the 1 was out on their arrival. The crews used the 1 appliance to carry out an inspection of the field before returning to their home station.
The cause of the fire is unknown. The call comes just weeks before when a fire ripped through a crop field caused by a fault from a combine harvester.
