Flames Spotted Late on Friday Night

An Isle of Wight fire crew from Shanklin rushed to a field ablaze just after 10pm on Friday, 27th July 2018. A member of the public alerted emergency services after spotting flames in a field along Alverstone Road in Apse Heath.

Fire Under Control on Arrival

Firefighters arrived to find the fire already out. Using one appliance, crews inspected the field thoroughly before heading back to base.

Cause Still a Mystery Amid Recent Farm Blaze Fears

The origin of the fire remains unknown. This scare comes just weeks after a huge fire devastated a crop field, caused by a combine harvester fault.
