Pedestrian Critically Injured After Hit-and-Run by Cyclist in Hackney
Police are hunting a hit-and-run cyclist after a woman was left with life-threatening injuries in Hackney. The shocking incident unfolded on Kingsland High Street, E8, on Tuesday, 28 August at around 5.57pm.
Woman in 50s Severely Hurt Crossing Kingsland High Street
The pedestrian, a woman believed to be in her 50s, collided with a male cyclist while crossing the road. Emergency services rushed to the scene, including London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance. She was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition.
Cyclist Stops Then Flees, Bike Abandoned Nearby
The male cyclist initially came to a halt after falling off his bike but fled moments later. Police later found the abandoned bike on Approach Close, N16, and have seized it as part of their investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Hit-and-Run Cyclist to Come Forward
Detective Constable Darren Case said: “This is a shocking incident. The cyclist did not stop to help the victim or call emergency services – instead, he made off. We need anyone who saw the cyclist before, during, or after the collision to get in touch. If you have dash cam footage or mobile phone video, it’s crucial you contact us.” “We are also appealing directly to the cyclist, and his friends or family, to come forward. The pedestrian has suffered life-threatening injuries and it’s vital you do the right thing and speak to the police.”
