Huge Fire Guts Warehouse on Norwood Road
A huge fire has erupted at a warehouse on Norwood Road in Southall, sparking a major emergency response. The London Fire Brigade has thrown 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters at the raging blaze.
No Injuries, But Thick Smoke Prompts Safety Warnings
So far, no one has been hurt in the inferno. However, the fire is pumping out thick smoke across the area. Authorities are urging locals to stay indoors and keep windows and doors shut to dodge the choking fumes.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “The fire has been producing a significant amount of smoke in the area. Although the level of smoke has reduced as firefighters work to extinguish the fire, we would continue to ask local residents to keep their windows and doors closed and stay indoors where possible.”
Traffic Chaos Hits Southall as Roads Shut
The blaze has sparked major disruption on local roads. Several closures are in place along Norwood Road, causing heavy congestion. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
Fire Started Early Morning, Cause Unknown
The fire was first spotted at 6.50am and has attracted almost 40 emergency calls. Fire crews from Southall, Heston, Hayes, and neighbouring stations have rushed to the scene. The cause is currently a mystery, with investigations set to begin once the flames are fully doused and the site declared safe.
