James Barnes, 39, with no fixed address, faces five burglary charges after a spree of thefts in Kent.

Five Burglaries in Westgate and Broadstairs

  • Two break-ins at the Co-op in Westgate on 24 October 2021 and 23 February 2022. Stolen items included shop goods and charity tin money.
  • Two burglaries at a Broadstairs shop on 26 February and 1 March 2022, where a large haul of cigarettes was pinched.
  • A beach hut in Westgate targeted on 24 October 2021, with a telescope swiped.

Remanded in Custody Ahead of Crown Court Appearance

Barnes appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 3 March and was remanded in custody. His case will return to Canterbury Crown Court on a date yet to be set.
