Man wanted for questioning after Brixton Stabbing

Detectives in Lambeth are releasing an image of a man they would like to speak to after a man was treated for a punctured lung following a stabbing at a Brixton bar. Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 5.06am on Saturday 28 July to a report of a stabbing at a venue on Brixton Road SW9. Officers attended the scene to discover a staff member suffering a stab wound to his back. The 29-year-old was taken to Kings College Hospital where he was treated for a punctured lung. Two other staff members were injured during the incident – a 27-year-old man received a cut to his arm, and 22-year-old man was hit over the head. All three were assaulted when a group of males became violent after being asked to leave the venue at closing time. Two men have been arrested in connection with the investigation. On 1 August a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. On 23 August a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH. Both were taken into custody and subsequently released on bail – next due on dates in mid-October and mid- September respectively. DC Claire Brouner of Lambeth CID said: “This was a vicious attack following a reasonable request from staff members, which the suspects clearly took exception to. I would appeal to anyone who recognises this individual, or who witnessed the assault, or has information which could assist the investigation to come forward.” Anyone with information is asked to call Lambeth CID on 020 8649 2155. To remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
