Gosport Van Raid: Heartbroken Owner Speaks Out After £Thousands of Tools Stolen
A furious Gosport tradesman has broken his silence after crooks smashed his van window and stole vital tools in a shocking midday raid.
Brazen Thieves Strike Right Under Owner’s Nose
The van was parked right outside the owner’s home, beneath his bedroom window and in full view of at least a dozen neighbours. Yet thieves still boldly broke a side window and climbed into the back from the cab to make off with valuable trade tools.
Replacing the stolen kit will cost the victim several thousand pounds. “It’s gutting,” he said. “You’d think the noise of breaking a window so close to a house would scare them off, but they just don’t care.”
How to Keep Your Tools Safe
- Never leave tools in your vehicle overnight.
- Invest in a car alarm to deter thieves.
- Fit motion-sensor security lights to flood your vehicle in the dark (timed carefully to avoid annoying neighbours).
With streetlights often off after 1am, thieves have the advantage of darkness. The victim warns: “Even if you hear noise, it’s hard to spot anyone in the dark.”
Stay alert, protect your gear, and don’t let criminals target your livelihood.
