Drug Dealer Caught with £12,000 Crack and Heroin Jailed
A man found with £12,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin during a police raid has been locked up. Jordi Matuba, 22, from Woodberry Down Estate, was sentenced to two years and eight months at Wood Green Crown Court on 7 May. He admitted to possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Final Conviction in Major North-East London Drug Bust
Matuba is the last to be nailed following a major police crackdown on drug dealers across north-east London. The operation, called Ballymore, targeted gang-linked drug crimes in Stoke Newington and surrounding areas.
Back in September 2018, 38 people were arrested during early-morning raids. This was part of an intelligence-led campaign by Hackney Police’s Gangs Unit that began in January 2018 after a spike in gang violence linked to drugs.
Over 30 Convicted, Nearly 75 Years Behind Bars
- 32 individuals convicted and jailed so far
- Combined sentences total 74 years and 10 months
- Some offenders slapped with Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) on release
The crackdown has hit the gangland drug trade hard, with authorities vowing to keep up the pressure on organised crime across the borough.
