Fire crews called to property a blaze in Caterham

Fire crews from Godstone, Reigate and Banstead have been mobilised by Surrey fire and rescue to reports of a house a blaze in Macaulay Road in Caterham. Crews were. Allied just after midnight on Saturday into Sunday morning. It unclear if any person are unaccounted for or how the blaze is started. Surrey Police have also been called to the incident and a further appliance from Oxted has been sent. Further update from Surrey Fire and rescue an aerial ladder platform has been sent to the incident to assist with fire fighting activities. Due to size of the incident a command and control unit has also been sent to manage the incident in the ground. We understand that the blaze is being treated unexplained and is currently under investigation over seen by Surrey fire investigators and Surrey Police. All persons have been accounted for. Crews are likely to at the incident until at least breaking of dawn. The fire has spread to the roof of the property. Four jets are in use and fire-fighting operations continues at the domestic property. It is unclear how the fire started but it’s understood to have started on the 1st floor which has spread to the roof and has now spread to an adjacent property. A road closure remains in place and residents near by are being asked to keep windows and doors closed.
