Isle of Wight Tragedy: Man Dies After Taking Ecstasy Tablet

A young man has died on the Isle of Wight after swallowing a powerful Ecstasy pill, police have revealed. Harley Mason, also known as Harley Girven, was found unresponsive at a Shanklin address early Saturday morning.

CPR Fails as Police Launch Drug Death Investigation

Emergency crews were called to a flat on Pomona Road in Shanklin just before midday on Saturday 29 June. Despite CPR attempts, Harley was pronounced dead at the scene. Hampshire Constabulary is now treating the death as unexplained and a Home Office post-mortem is scheduled for Wednesday.

Officers have searched the property and are investigating the incident. Two teenagers – a 16-year-old girl from East Cowes and a 17-year-old boy from Newport – were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs. Both have since been released under investigation. Police stress their arrests are drug-related but not directly linked to Harley’s death.

Warning Over ‘Punisher’ Ecstasy Tablets

The police are urging the public to beware a blue triangular Ecstasy tablet called ‘Punisher’. It’s reportedly three times stronger than regular Ecstasy and linked to several recent drug-related incidents.

“The dangers of taking illegal drugs cannot be overstated, especially tablets like ‘Punisher’ which can have deadly effects,” a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said.

Family Pay Heartbreaking Tribute

Harley’s family released a moving statement:

“Our boy Harley; a fun and lovable son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many.

We will remember your sharp sense of humour and unique outlook on the world — a world that challenged you in ways others may never understand.

A courageous man with love in your heart, you were so much to so many.

Now free of your pain, run free to your brother Mikey who we know will be waiting. You will be forever in our hearts.”

Neighbour Describes Shock

A neighbour said they saw Harley on Friday when he seemed happy and well. “The first I knew of the tragedy was when police and ambulance turned up. It’s such a waste. I was really good friends with him,” they added.
