Second Arrest Made After Whitstable Shooting

A second suspect has been charged following a shocking shooting in Whitstable. A 22-year-old man was shot in the leg at Westmeads Recreation Ground on Sunday 7 July 2019 at around 1:50pm.

Arrests and Charges

  • Andrew Williams, 52, of no fixed address, was arrested on Wednesday 17 July. He faces charges of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm. Williams is due in Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 19 July.
  • Earlier, on Monday 15 July, police arrested two others—a 54-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy—in connection with the case.
  • The teenage suspect, from Whitstable, has been charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 17 July and was remanded in custody. His next court date is 19 August at Canterbury Crown Court.
  • The 54-year-old man has been released on bail until 7 August.

Police Continue Investigation

Police conducted searches at properties in Yorkletts and Walmer Road, Whitstable in the days following the shooting.
