Probe launched after man is shot in Brixton

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a shooting in Brixton. Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were called to Elm Park, SW2, at 10.25pm on Wednesday, 16 October to reports of a shooting. A 31-year-old man was found with a gunshot injury to his leg. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital; his condition is not life threatening. Multiple shots were discharged during the incident. There were no reports of any other injuries. Officers from Trident, part of Specialist Crime, investigate and retain an open mind as to the motive for this incident. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to come forward and speak to police. Detectives are particularly keen to trace a dark coloured SUV style vehicle seen leaving the area immediately after the incident. There have been no arrests. Any witnesses or anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 8624/16Oct
