Robbery Shock in Ramsgate: Armed Gunman Arrested

A 29-year-old man is set to appear in court after a brazen robbery in Ramsgate. Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched an investigation following a cash theft at a commercial premises on Newington Road, Ramsgate, at just before 2pm on Wednesday 19 February 2020.

Quick Arrest After Cash Heist

Police swooped on Marine Terrace in Margate the same day and arrested Luke Twyman, of Lancaster Close, Ramsgate. On Friday 21 February, the Crown Prosecution Service charged him with robbery and possession of a handgun with intent to commit robbery.

Magistrates’ Court Appearance and Ongoing Probe

Twyman remains in custody and will appear via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 21 February. The investigation continues with armed officers raiding a property in Newington Road on the evening of Thursday 20 February. No arrests followed that raid.
