Sex Beast Jamieson Locked Up for Rape in Liverpool
Callum Jamieson, 23, has been slammed with eight years behind bars for brutally raping a woman in Liverpool City Centre in December 2019. The vile offender was also handed a five-year extended licence and slapped with a Lifetime Sex Offender Order at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, February 28.
Attack in Early Hours Terrifies Victim
Around 3:30am on Sunday, December 1, 2019, the victim – a woman in her 20s – was walking on Great Homer Street when Jamieson crept up behind her, dragged her into nearby bushes, and attacked. A heroic passer-by interrupted the assault, forcing Jamieson to flee towards Great Nelson Street.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery and Public’s Help
DI Catherine Cox spoke out after the sentencing:
“Jamieson is an extremely dangerous repeat sex offender who stalked this young woman for over a mile before attacking her. Thankfully, a member of the public stopped things from getting even worse. The victim’s bravery and determination to come forward is immense and has taken this predator off our streets.”
She added:
“While nothing can erase the trauma suffered, we hope the lengthy prison sentence offers her some comfort as she recovers. We urge other victims to come forward, knowing specially trained officers stand ready to support them. Thanks too to the public who helped our investigation by providing witness reports and sharing appeals – it truly makes a difference.”
