Brothers Jailed for Brutal Knifepoint Burglary and Car Theft in Hampshire and Isle of Wight
Violent Duo Held at Knifepoint in Newport
Jayzer Sam Wilkie, 31, and his brother Jak Dylan Wilkie, 28, terrorised a Newport home on 29 August 2019. The pair forced their way into a house on Westminster Lane, threatening the occupants with knives. Shockingly, nothing was stolen during the terrifying ordeal.
Carjacked in Lymington – Victim Assaulted
Just days later, at 7:30am on 1 September 2019, the brothers flagged down a Renault Clio in Lymington’s School Lane. Both men brutally assaulted the driver, a man in his 30s, before stealing the vehicle and making a run for it.
Quick Police Action Ends Crime Spree
Authorities caught up with the Wilkie brothers shortly after the robbery, arresting them swiftly. At first, both denied involvement in the burglary but flipped on the first day of their trial on 25 February at Isle of Wight Crown Court, pleading guilty.
Long Sentences for Brothers’ Reign of Terror
Having already admitted the robbery at an earlier Magistrates’ Court hearing, the brothers were sentenced on 26 February. Each received 9½ years for the aggravated burglary, plus an extra 12 months for the car theft – a combined jail time of 10½ years each.
