16-Year-Old Boy Murdered Near Gallions Reach DLR Station
A 16-year-old boy has been found dead in Newham, sparking a murder probe. Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 8.38am on Tuesday, 3 March after the teen was discovered unresponsive on scrubland behind Gallions Reach DLR Station, Atlantis Avenue, E6.
Victim Identified as Missing Ahmed Shamur
The boy suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. While formal ID is pending, officers believe the victim is Ahmed Shamur from Manor Park, E12, who had been reported missing early Tuesday after failing to come home.
Ahmed’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. A post-mortem is expected to be carried out shortly.
Possible Link to Youths with Baseball Bats
Police are investigating whether the murder connects to a gang of around 30 males seen carrying baseball bats near the station at 7.50pm on Monday, 2 March. Despite a police search, no suspects were found at the time.
Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith appealed for public help: “A young teenage boy has died and his family and friends are devastated. They want answers and they deserve all the help the public can give them.”
He added, “We need anyone with information, especially those near Gallions Reach around 8pm on Monday. If you’re a motorist with dashcam footage, please get in touch. Our officers are ready to support you.”
