Essex Police Gear Up with 20 Life-Saving Defibrillators
Essex roads policing officers have armed themselves with 20 defibrillators, ready to save lives on the county’s streets. The life-saving devices were fitted in 10 vehicles from the Chigwell Roads Policing Unit and 10 from the Stanway Roads Policing Unit.
Officers Trained and Ready to Act
All officers received training on how to use the defibrillators, which have been in action for the past month. This equipment is now a key part of their police training, ensuring first responders can provide critical aid when seconds count.
“A key element of being an officer is to preserve life and the defibrillators will help us try and save people who are in the worst possible situation,” said Inspector Jason Dearsley.
“Roads policing officers cover the entire county – meaning we may be able to use this equipment following a collision or if someone falls poorly within their towns or villages.”
Vital Tool Praised by Essex’s Top Crime Chief
Roger Hirst, Essex’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, welcomed the move. “It’s vital equipment that simply makes the difference between life and death,” he said.
“With more police officers being available in our communities and out on our roads, they can be there quickly and help save someone’s life.”
