Police were called to Suffolk Road, Newham at 8.35pm on Friday, 19 June following a report of the sound of a gunshot.
Officers, including firearms officers, attended the scene and a man was suffering facial injuries, he is not seriously injured.
No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
