18-Year-Olds Face Assault Charges Over Wild Party
Two teenagers have been hit with serious charges after an unlicensed music event in Hackney erupted into chaos. Devonte Perkins, 18, from Newham, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening behaviour under the Public Order Act. He’s been locked up ahead of his court hearing on 20 July at Thames Magistrates’ Court.
Meanwhile, Brandon Elabor, also 18, from Uxbridge, faces assault charges for attacking an emergency worker. He’s been granted bail and is due to appear in court on 11 September.
Police Called as Party Spirals Out of Control
The trouble kicked off late on 17 July when police received several calls from alarmed locals reporting a loud, unlicensed rave at the Woodberry Down Estate. Residents complained about noise and anti-social behaviour that quickly worsened.
Violence Flares as Officers Try to Disperse Crowd
A Dispersal Zone was swiftly imposed under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014. But when specially trained public order officers moved in to break up the gathering, they were met with hostility. Attendees threw bottles, canisters, and even a bicycle at police.
Despite the mayhem, officers cleared the area by around 4am, restoring order to the estate.
