Woman Brutally Attacked on Southsea Common – Police Launch Major Hunt
Serious Assault Rocks Southsea
Police are hunting answers after a 40-year-old woman was seriously assaulted between 9pm and 11.40pm on August 3, on Southsea Common near Clarence Parade. The victim suffered a possible fractured cheekbone and extensive bruising to her face, arms, legs, and back.
Suspect Arrested but Let Go
Responding quickly, officers arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of serious assault and later on suspicion of rape. After questioning, he was released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Possible Links To Other Violent Charges
The same 19-year-old, with no fixed address, faces charges of actual bodily harm, kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence, and threats to kill from an unrelated Eastleigh incident. He is currently remanded in custody and set to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on August 10.
