Police Launch Stop & Search Blitz After Armed Youth Brawls Rock Sandhurst and Crowthorne
Police have slapped a Section 60 stop and search order on Sandhurst and Crowthorne following two weekends of escalating youth violence. The UK’s top cops acted fast after a series of pre-arranged fights involving weapons rocked the towns, sparking fears of serious harm.
Weapon Woes and Rising Rivalries
Reports flooded in of organised brawls between gangs armed with weapons. Authorities made several arrests and confiscated a number of discarded weapons from the scenes. Intelligence points to a fierce and growing feud between local youth groups, stoking tensions further.
Strict Measures in Place — Starting Now
The stop and search order kicks in today at 2pm (2/10) and runs non-stop until 2pm Saturday. It covers a tight patch defined by B340 to the north, Wokingham Road west, York Town Road south and Rackstraw Road through to Foresters Way east — including Sandhurst Memorial Ground. Police say the order could extend through the weekend depending on the situation.
Police Promise More Patrols and Reassurance
Superintendent Lindsey Finch said: “A Section 60 order is used when there are reasonable grounds to expect serious violence or weapons use. We have intelligence about potential violence between certain youth groups, so we’re acting now to prevent it.
“This allows officers to stop and search anyone in the area — with or without specific suspicion — while the order’s active. Expect a strong police presence to keep things calm and reassure the public.”
“We don’t use Section 60 orders lightly. They’re here to help prevent serious violence. If you’re stopped, don’t panic — it doesn’t mean you’re in trouble. Please cooperate and chat with officers if you have concerns.”
The police crackdown signals a serious attempt to stamp out violent clashes before they spiral out of control. For locals, it’s a chance to breathe easier — at least for now.
