Drink-Driver Crashes Into Police Car After Refusing to Stop
Police were scrambled to Ashford town centre around 9pm on Tuesday, 3 November 2020, following reports of a suspected drink driver on the loose.
Van Fails to Halt, Smashes Into Cop Car
A van ignored officers’ orders to stop and sped off, only to collide with a police vehicle on Christchurch Road. The driver was quickly tracked down and arrested on nearby Victoria Road.
Man Faces Multiple Charges After Shocking Incident
37-year-old Daniel Hilden, from Stanhope Road, Ashford, is now charged with:
- Drink driving
- Dangerous driving
- Causing criminal damage
- Two counts of assaulting an emergency worker
- Driving without insurance
- Driving contrary to licence conditions
Remanded in Custody, Next Hearing at Canterbury Crown Court
Hilden appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 5 November. He was remanded in custody and will face Canterbury Crown Court on a date yet to be set.
