Chemical Attack Shakes Blackheath Flat – Emergency Services Rush In
Tense Scene at Galton House
Chaos erupted in Blackheath this afternoon as police, paramedics, and the Fire Brigade were scrambled to a flat after a chemical attack. A noxious substance and suspicious package were hurled through the letterbox of a property on Shooters Hill Road. The incident unfolded around 1.30pm on Sunday, 8 November 2020.
Emergency Response in Full Force
About five emergency vehicles, including two forensic vans, descended on Galton House. Fire appliances, a Detection, Identification and Monitoring (DIM) unit, and multiple officers were also dispatched. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital nearby was turned into a holding area for testing the substance found in the package.
Investigation Underway – No Terror Link
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed the call came in at 1.37pm reporting a suspicious package at the Shooters Hill Road address. “Officers attended alongside the London Fire Brigade and Ambulance Service,” they said. Thankfully, tests showed the package was non-toxic and non-hazardous.
The flat has since re-opened and the crime scene closed. Police stress this is not being treated as a terror-related incident.
