A 25-year-old man from Dunmow, believed to be behind the wheel, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, and failing to stop after the collision. He has now been released under investigation while police continue their inquiries.

Officers are urgently seeking a member of the public who helped at the scene. They also want to speak to any drivers nearby with dashcam footage that could aid the investigation.
