Woman Dies After Early Morning Attack in Luton
Police were called just after 2am on Tuesday, December 29, to Chapel Street, Luton, after reports of a woman with a serious head injury.
Emergency crews rushed the woman, believed to be in her 50s, to hospital. Tragically, she passed away the following day, Wednesday.
Four Arrested in Connection With Assault
On the same day of the incident, two men in their 50s, a man in his 30s, and a woman in her 50s were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
All four have since been released under investigation as detectives continue to piece together what happened.
Investigation Ongoing as Post-Mortem Scheduled
A post-mortem examination is set for Saturday, January 2, to determine the exact cause of death.
Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries and have arrested four people in connection with this tragic incident.
“We understand that news such as this can be unsettling for the community and we are working hard to establish the exact circumstances around what happened.”
