Woman in 70s Assaulted Near Train Station in Hampshire

Hampshire police were called at around 5.30pm on Wednesday after a woman in her 70s was grabbed by a stranger near the train station on Regent Street.

Suspect Flees Down Stairs Towards Landguard Road

The victim screamed, causing the attacker to flee down a set of stairs onto Landguard Road, close to the local holiday park and Lidl supermarket.

The man is described as around 6ft tall and broad. He was wearing a dark hoodie with the hood up, a dark mask, dark trousers, and light-coloured trainers.

Police Hunt Key Witness – Dog-Walking Woman

Officers are urgently trying to find a crucial witness: a woman walking a black and white dog, possibly wearing a blue bobble hat. She was nearby when the victim walked past her and may have seen the attacker or the suspect running down Landguard Road.

Inspector Rob Abel said: “The victim was uninjured but understandably shaken. We are conducting enquiries and will have officers patrolling the area in the coming days.”

“We want to identify the dog-walker as she may have vital information about the man or the incident.”

“If this sounds like you, or you know someone matching this description who walks their dog here, please get in touch.”

“We also want to hear from anyone who drove through the area between 4.45pm and 5.30pm, especially around Regent Street and the train station. Dash cam footage could be crucial.”
