Teacher Jailed for Secret School Spying
Thomas Ball, 30, hid a secret camera at a North Yorkshire school where he worked back in 2018. When police found the device, he initially denied any involvement. But evidence showed he bought and planted the camera himself.
Trusted Role Turned Dark
Ball, from Atherstone, Warwickshire, was locked up on Wednesday after admitting a string of child sex offences. Detective Constable Adam Fenwick of North Yorkshire Police blasted Ball’s actions, saying:
“Thomas Ball was in a trusted position of responsibility which he has blatantly abused for his own gratification.
“He is a cold and calculating individual who carefully planned and premeditated his actions. He clearly poses a significant risk to young people, and we hope his sentencing will give some closure to the victim and their family.”
Guilty Plea to Multiple Charges
At York Crown Court, Ball pleaded guilty to voyeurism, three counts of making indecent images of children, taking indecent images, and possessing such images. The horrifying case exposes a massive betrayal of trust in a place meant to be safe.
