Brutal Thug, 24, Jailed for Kicking 70-Year-Old Woman in Shocking Gravesend Attack
Violent robbery caught on the streets of Gravesend
Stephan Adi, 23 at the time, launched a vicious attack on an elderly woman in Gravesend town centre. Spotting the vulnerable victim walking alone, he shoved her to the pavement before delivering a brutal kick to her face. The shocking assault took place in Commercial Place at around 7.15pm on 29 December 2019.
Multiple burglaries add to his crime spree
Adi wasn’t just a violent mugger — he went on a rampage across Gravesend, racking up a string of burglaries between January and February 2020. Police linked him to three break-ins, including a Darnley Street property where he snatched two TVs and foreign currency, fingerprints found on a forced window sealing his fate.
On 1 February at 2.55am, he was caught red-handed by a victim in Brunswick Walk, who found him fleeing in their own car. Despite being arrested, he was later bailed but shamelessly hit another home in Suffolk Road hours later. This time he was chased into a bedroom before escaping out the window — though cops quickly apprehended him thanks to fingerprint evidence.
Trial ends in conviction and jail sentence
At Woolwich Crown Court, Adi, now 24 and of Suffolk Road, Gravesend, was found guilty of robbery, three counts of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and fraud by false representation. On Tuesday 27 April 2021, he was sentenced for his ruthless crimes.
Police praise victim bravery, vow to keep the streets safe
“Adi is a prolific offender who presents a clear and obvious danger to the public. His willingness to use violence on an elderly woman shows the abhorrent lengths he’d go to while committing offences,” said Detective Constable Rebecca Ward.
“He caused distress to many victims and I’m glad he can no longer terrorise innocent people.”
