Four Arrested Over Anti-Semitic Abuse in St John’s Wood Convoy

Police swooped on a car convoy in north London after reports of anti-Semitic abuse hurled at pedestrians on Sunday afternoon, 16 May. The offensive shouting came from a vehicle moving through the St John’s Wood area, sparking outrage.

Helicopter Spotlights Hate Crime—Suspects Caught on A40

Officers launched an investigation and traced the car to the A40 in Hillingdon. With help from a police helicopter, the vehicle was stopped around 6.30pm. Four men were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences and are now held at a west London police station.

Police Crackdown and Community Reassurance

“This behaviour was utterly shocking and will not be tolerated,” said Superintendent Jo Edwards, leading the operation. “We understand the concern this caused and have increased patrols in St John’s Wood and Golders Green.”

Meanwhile, police managed a protest on Whitehall happening the same afternoon. The demonstration passed off peacefully with no arrests recorded.
