Predatory Man Arrested for Following and Gropping Women in Canterbury
Police have jailed a man who stalked and sexually assaulted women and girls in Canterbury’s St Stephen’s area. Athian Majak, 20, was caught after officers spotted him following a woman on 12 June 2024 — matching the description from previous victims.
Multiple Incidents Over Several Months
Majak targeted four females in June alone, attempting to touch or grab them. Some victims scared him off by shouting. Further investigation linked him to similar offences dating back to December 2023.
He pleaded guilty to nine charges, including indecent exposure, sexual touching, and attempted sexual touching. On 18 October, Canterbury Crown Court sentenced him to three years in a youth offenders’ institute.
Police Praise Quick Work and Warn Public
“Athian Majak openly committed criminal acts against women and girls in public, while they were just trying to go about their day,” said Detective Constable Kieran Kemp.
“His behaviour was predatory. Officers quickly recognised the importance of catching him and used CCTV and witness accounts to build the case.”
Kent Police remain committed to tackling violence against women and regularly run patrols and public ‘walk and talk’ events to spot and prevent predatory behaviour in the community.
