Moped Pervert Jailed for 16 Months After Targeting Women in Haringey
A vile moped rider who terrorised lone women across Haringey has been locked up for 16 months. Jefferson Goncalves De Lima Da Silva, 29, from Beresford Road, Haringey, pleaded guilty to nine counts of indecent exposure and two counts of sexual assault at Wood Green Crown Court on 17 May.
Gruesome Crimes Caught on Camera
Between September 2019 and June 2020, Da Silva prowled east London on his moped, creeping up on women and asking for directions. When the victims stopped, he repeatedly exposed himself – 11 times in total – before speeding off. Some victims said he even masturbated in front of them and laughed at their terror.
In two harrowing cases, Da Silva went a step further, sexually assaulting women by inappropriate touching before making a getaway on his bike.
Police Crack Down After Victims Come Forward
Scotland Yard’s North Area Public Protection Unit launched a swift investigation. After analysing CCTV footage, gathering witness statements and checking vehicle registrations, they arrested Da Silva on 27 June 2020.
He now faces a 10-year notification requirement and a further 12 months on licence. The court also slapped a Deprivation Order on his moped under the Sentencing Act.
“Goncalves De Lima Da Silva is a dangerous and predatory individual,” said Detective Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh. “I hope this sentence sends a clear message that such acts will not be tolerated. Preventing and detecting sexual offences remains a top priority for the Metropolitan Police.”
Detective Constable Myles Bossman added: “I thank all the victims for their bravery. Many described feelings of fear and disgust due to the brazen and vulgar nature of these attacks. Their courage helped bring this offender to justice.”
