Paedophile Russell Yeomans Slapped with 22-Year Jail Term for Decades of Child Sex Abuse
Yeomans Found Guilty of Horrific Crimes Against Three Girls
Russell Yeomans, 58, has been handed a massive 22-year prison sentence after being convicted of historic sexual offences against children. The Monks Way resident denied 11 charges but was found guilty of rape, gross indecency with a child, two counts of sexual assault on a child, and seven counts of indecent assault.
Abuse Spanned Four Decades Across Nottinghamshire and Norfolk
The shocking offences stretch from the late 1970s right through to 2018. Yeomans preyed on three victims in South Normanton, Nottinghamshire and Norfolk. At Nottingham’s Nightingale Crown Court on Friday 14 May, he was ordered to serve at least 14 years behind bars before parole can even be considered, followed by a mandatory five years on licence after release.
Police Cooperation Led to Conviction
Derbyshire Police investigated crimes affecting two victims, while Nottinghamshire detectives focused on incidents in their county. Both forces teamed up, providing evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, which led to the successful prosecution.
Detective Chief Inspector Darren De’ath said: “The victims, including one who is still a child, should be praised for their immense courage in coming forward.”
“Yeomans is clearly dangerous, and thanks to these brave individuals speaking out, other victims have likely been protected.”
