PC Tim Scott Caught Out for Dangerous Driving and Lying
PC Tim Scott, a member of MO19, has been slammed for reckless driving and dishonesty after causing a crash on Reigate Road, Surrey.
Sudden Stop Sparks Smash
On Saturday, 2 December 2017, Scott deliberately slammed on his brakes without warning. The car behind slammed into his vehicle, causing damage and risking serious injury.
Officer Lies to Insurance – Footage Proves Otherwise
The very next day, Scott told his insurance company he’d stopped suddenly because another car pulled out in front of him. But dashcam footage from the other vehicle told a different story: no other car, person, or obstacle was anywhere near when the crash happened.
Met Police Take a Tough Stance
Chief Inspector Matt Cox, Professionalism, said: “PC Scott’s deliberate action in suddenly stopping his vehicle was completely reckless, leading to damage and potential serious injury. He then lied about the incident to his insurance company – behaviour which is completely unacceptable and undermines confidence in our organisation.”
Scott was found guilty of misconduct related to discreditable conduct and a lack of honesty and integrity. The Met warned this sends a clear message that officers who break the rules will face the consequences.
