New Forest Man Jailed for Shoplifting Spree at Southampton’s West Quay

A 35-year-old man from the New Forest has been locked up for 18 weeks after a series of shoplifting raids in Southampton.

Thomas Amos Caught Stealing Over £2,500 from John Lewis

Thomas Nathan Amos, with no fixed address, was found guilty of three counts of theft from a shop and one count of assault. The crimes took place between August 1 and August 9, 2021, at West Quay Shopping Centre.

During three separate trips to John Lewis, Amos made off with goods worth over £2,500. Southampton Magistrates heard the case on August 17.

Sentence and Ban from John Lewis Stores

Amos was given an eight-week jail sentence for the thefts and was banned from entering any John Lewis store in England and Wales until August 16, 2022.

The judge also activated a previous suspended sentence, tacking on an extra 10 weeks. Amos now faces a total of 18 weeks behind bars.
