Woman Dies After Hit-and-Run on Suffolk Road
Dorset Police were alerted at 1.35pm on Saturday, 23 October 2021, following a serious collision between a car and a pedestrian on Suffolk Road. The victim, a woman in her 40s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital.
Driver Flees Scene in Black Audi A4
The driver failed to stop and sped off towards Clarendon Road. Police later found a black Audi A4 believed to be involved, stopping it in Northamptonshire early on Sunday, 24 October.
Man Arrested on Murder Suspicion
Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) launched a full probe into the crash. A 39-year-old man from Derby was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, later upgraded to murder after the victim sadly died in hospital on Tuesday, 26 October.
A 41-year-old Derby woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but has since been released under investigation.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time,” said Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour of MCIT. “We urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward. There will be a visible police presence in the area during ongoing enquiries.”
