Man Dies After Brutal Assault in Broadway – Murder Probe Underway
A man in his 40s has died following a vicious attack in Broadway just after 6pm. He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly passed away on Tuesday, 2 November.
Suspect Charged as Murder Investigation Launches
Daniel Ballard, 31, from Lincoln Close, Southend, was initially charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. Now, police have upgraded the case to a full murder investigation.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe, leading the inquiry, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and we are supporting them at this very difficult time. We have made good progress but urgently need anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to us to come forward.”
She added the confrontation spilled from the pavement into the road, stopping traffic. Police want to hear from anyone who was in vehicles caught up in the incident.
