Murder Probe Launched After Man Found Dead in Reading Home
Thames Valley Police have opened a murder investigation after a man’s body was discovered in a Reading house yesterday evening.

Just after 8.10pm on 1 December, officers were called to a home on Elgar Road, Reading, where they found the victim – a man in his seventies – dead at the scene.
Arrest Made as Police Launch Major Inquiry
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Howard, leading the Major Crime Unit, confirmed an arrest has been made. He said:
“Tragically, a body has been located following a call to Elgar Road and a murder investigation is underway. We are in the early stages but an arrest has been made. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support.”
Police Reassure Local Community
Police have set up a large cordon and increased patrols in the area. DCI Howard added:
“We understand this will cause concern locally. However, we believe the victim and offender knew each other, and there is no wider risk to the public.
If you witnessed anything in Elgar Road on 30 November or 1 December – especially any disturbances or altercations – please contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting incident reference 1958 of 1 December. Drivers are urged to check dash cam footage for any relevant information.”
