Gun-Toting Duo Busted After 14-Hour Standoff in Derbyshire
Mark Hamlet, 37, and Rebecca Monk, 50, were slammed with heavy jail terms after a string of armed robberies rocked Long Eaton, Derbyshire. The pair sparked a massive 14-hour police standoff at their home in July 2019, where cops uncovered the handgun used in a cake box.
Four Robberies in Days
The first raid hit the Co-op on College Street, Long Eaton, on 23 June 2019. Police revealed Monk scouted the shop first, then Hamlet barged in waving a handgun, terrorising the staff. Over the next few days, the duo targeted a Sandiacre convenience store, a petrol station in Spondon, and a Post Office back in Long Eaton.
Sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court
After the fourth heist on 4 July, cops swooped on their Grasmere Road home. Despite denying the crimes, the pair were convicted at Derby Crown Court.
Hamlet copped a hefty sentence: 15 years and six months for multiple robberies, threats with a blade, and firearm offences. Monk was locked up for seven years for her role in the initial Co-op robbery.
