Cop Caught Out! PC Darren Thorn Sacked Over Shocking Abuse of Trust
PC Darren Thorn, a response officer in Swindon, was booted from Wiltshire Police after admitting to corruption, computer misuse, and misconduct in public office. Last month (29/11), he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including illegally snooping on police systems and betraying public trust. An independent hearing found him guilty of six counts of gross misconduct, leading to his immediate dismissal.
Vulnerable Woman Exploited in Shocking Scandal
Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills slammed Thorn’s behaviour. He revealed the officer had made contact with a vulnerable woman while on duty. “PC Thorn significantly abused his position by pursuing a sexual relationship with her,” Mills said. “He illegally accessed police computers to grab personal data, which he then passed on to her.”
Swift Action and Police Conduct Scrutiny
Thorn’s actions weren’t just illegal—they flagrantly broke police standards. Wiltshire Police wasted no time, arresting and suspending him as soon as allegations emerged. The case was also handed to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) for further investigation.
Wiltshire Police Vows Zero Tolerance
The force stressed there’s no room for bad apples like Thorn. Mills added, “His actions harmed public trust and undermined the hard work of our committed officers. We stand firm on maintaining the highest standards and will act decisively against breaches.”
Wiltshire Police urged anyone suspicious about officer conduct to come forward immediately, reaffirming their commitment to community trust and professional policing.
