On Monday 17 January 2022, Kent Police slammed the brakes on reckless drivers as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week. Running from 17 to 23 January, the week spotlights the tireless work of officers keeping our streets safe.
Speed traps snap up 13 lawbreakers
Tasked with curbing dangerous driving, teams from the Thanet Multi-Agency Task Force, Special Constabulary, PCSOs, and Thanet Local Policing hit hotspots across Margate, Ramsgate, and Broadstairs.

More than 20 vehicles were stopped. Shockingly, 13 drivers were slapped with reports for traffic offences, mostly speeding.
Speeder clocks 58mph in 30mph zone
One brazen motorist was caught doing 58mph in a 30mph zone on Pysons Road, Ramsgate — nearly double the speed limit!
Inspector warns: ‘Road safety is everyone’s job’
“Traffic issues matter to residents as anti-social vehicles can harm community wellbeing and create serious safety risks,” said Inspector Ian Swallow from Thanet Community Safety Unit.
“Our officers routinely run these checks to remind drivers: stay safe, stick to speed limits, and keep your vehicles roadworthy.”
