Tragic Crash on M6 Leaves Two Dead, One Injured

Police rushed to the M6 northbound at 11:18am today following a serious collision between a van and a car. The smash happened between junctions 39 and 40.

Two Dead at Scene, Third Hurt

Two people inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant, a man in his forties, was rushed to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Carlisle with multiple injuries.

Van Occupants Escape Major Harm

Two men who were inside the van escaped serious injuries. They were also taken to Cumberland Infirmary for checks.

M6 Closure and Diversions in Place

The M6 northbound was shut as emergency crews tackled the crash. Drivers have been urged to steer clear while the road remains closed.

Diversions are running via the A6 to keep traffic moving.
